You get a comprehensive perspective of your diet and nutrition during the consultation. Our Aava Medical Centre Nutrition therapists’ work is based on research, rather than on myths.
Preparing for a nutrition therapist’s consultation
If possible, please keep a food diary for at least three days before the consultation. One alternative is to take photos of all the consumed food and drinks with your mobile phone. The diet can also be clarified during the consultation, therefore you are welcome to the consultation even if you failed to fill in the food diary. If you have laboratory test results from the previous year available, please take them with you to the consultation.
What happens in the nutrition therapist’s consultation?
The most important question to answer is: why did you came to the consultation? The nutrition therapist wants to hear all your problems and wishes. (If you have lots of problems, additional consultations may be needed to assess the situation.) After this, the nutrition therapist conducts an individual situation analysis, which surveys your diet and other aspects related to eating: work, exercise, sleeping and eating history. If necessary, the nutrition therapist counts how and from which food you get nutrients and which important nutrients you should get more to be healthy.
A treatment plan is drawn up and scheduled together with the customer. Goals are always set from the customer’s starting point, advancing in small steps if necessary. Your own motivation is the most important issue, but we do not leave you alone with your problems.
