My areas of expertise are neurosurgery and spinal surgery. I provide comprehensive care and arrange any necessary procedures and their follow-up care. My aim is to identify the root causes of symptoms and guide patients toward the most appropriate treatments. I perform safe microsurgical procedures to treat spinal conditions and symptoms affecting the limbs, such as pain, numbness and weakness. I also administer injections for local back pain. I provide guidance to alleviate the symptoms, as surgery is often not the only option. I also carry out minor procedures on the head, face, and neck, such as taking samples, while ensuring a good cosmetic outcome.
I work as a neurosurgeon at HUS Helsinki University Hospital. My research, published in over 50 articles, focuses on neurosurgical disorders, spinal conditions, and advancements in microsurgical techniques. I am developing new surgical technology, particularly for the treatment of patients with brain tumours.

Neurosurgery: cerebral aneurysm, cerebral vascular malformation, cavernoma, cerebral hemorrhage, traumatic brain injury, brain tumor (meningioma or dura mater tumor, glioma, hemangioblastoma, central nervous system metastasis, and lymphoma), pituitary tumors, cerebrospinal fluid circulation disorders (hydrocephalus), idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH), spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH), spasticity, pain, and complex neurosurgical conditions (including second opinions).
Most common surgical procedures: NAG40 Anterior cervical spinal decompression and fusion, ABC16 Microsurgical removal of a lumbar disc herniation, ABC53 Decompression of the spinal canal and nerve roots in the thoracic spine, ABC56 Decompression of the central canal and nerve roots in the lumbar spine, ABC50 Decompression of the spinal canal and nerve roots in the cervical spine.
I also offer acute consultations and advice in unclear situations.
