I perform ENMG examinations on people over 15 years of age. A doctor's referral is required for the examination.
ENMG (electroneuromyography or electrodiagnostic testing) measures the electrical activity of your peripheral nerves and muscles. Typical symptoms investigated with this examination are numbness, pain, muscle weakness and reduced sensation.
Nerves are examined by applying small electrical impulses on the skin. When necessary, it's also possible to study your muscles with a small needle. The examination may cause slight discomfort, but it poses no danger. I always try to perform the examination as comfortably as possible. If anything about the examination makes you anxious, please tell me!
After the examination, I will discuss the results with you and write report in the patient information system, after which your treating doctor will be continue your treatment.
For the measurements, your hands and feet should be clean, warm and free of moisturizing cream. Dress warmly enough! If you have previously had an ENMG test in another unit, it's a good idea to bring the results with you.
You are cordially welcome to visit me!
