Emergency care (Aava Kamppi, Helsinki)

Aava Kamppi’s emergency unit provides fast and flexible treatment on both weekdays and weekends. Laboratory and X ray services are also provided during the emergency unit’s opening hours. Our emergency team consists of doctors and nurses who are specialised in emergency medicine. Patients of all ages, from children to the elderly, are welcome at the emergency unit.

When should you come to the emergency unit?

Aava’s medical emergency unit has a central location in Helsinki, right beside the Kamppi shopping centre.

You can seek emergency care when you need rapid treatment due to an acute illness or accident, for example.

Typical conditions treated at the emergency unit include:

  • acute or suddenly aggravated infections
  • acute pain, such as pain in the ear, back or stomach
  • burns and frostbite

Wounds and injuries to ligaments, bones, muscles, tendons and nerves are treated at the emergency unit for accidents.

In an emergency, please call the emergency number 112.

Crossing the language barrier with the interpreter service

Receiving emergency care is smooth even when the patient and the doctor do not have a common language. Aava uses the interpreter service Tulka.

Tulka is a mobile service that connects the patient and the doctor with an interpreter over the phone. The interpreter, doctor and patient talk on speakerphone. The price of the service is EUR 45/visit.

Emergency care has access to laboratory and X ray services, which supports fast diagnosis and treatment.

Emergency care by appointment or without?

Emergency care services are available by appointment (booking through our online service or by calling our customer service at 010 380 3838), but in acute situations or accidents, you can come directly to Aava Kamppi, and we will try to arrange an appointment for you.

Our emergency unit is open during the opening hours of the Kamppi clinic:

  • Mon–Fri from 7.30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Sat–Sun from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

When you arrive, you can come directly to the 2nd floor. The nurse on duty will register you and assess the need for care.

Our emergency unit provides a wide range of specialist consultation services and further treatment is always organised depending on the case. Further treatment can be carried out at Aava Kamppi or in a public hospital.
