Assistance with patient data and objections
Aava’s customers can request assistance from specialists. Depending on your concerns, you can contact Aava’s Data Protection Officer or Kanta Archivist. Below you will find brief descriptions of the key tasks of various specialists.
Please note that personal data must not be sent via unsecured email. Aava uses an encrypted email service, which allows you to send confidential and sensitive personal and health data to Aava’s personnel and recipients.
Patient ombudsperson
At the beginning of 2024, the title of patient ombudsman was changed to patient ombudsperson.
At the same time, the patient ombudsperson activities were transferred to the wellbeing services counties and the City of Helsinki (Act on Patient Ombudspersons and Social Services Ombudspersons 793/2023). This also applies to private service providers.
If you are dissatisfied with your care or treatment at Aava, you have the right to contact a patient ombudsperson.
The patient ombudsperson provides guidance and advice to patients and their relatives in matters related to the patient’s treatment and patients’ rights.
If you need help or advice from a patient ombudsperson, please contact the patient ombudsperson of your wellbeing services county or the patient ombudsperson of the City of Helsinki.
You can find the information of the patient ombudsperson for your wellbeing services county on the county's website.
Submitting an objection
The Patient Ombudsperson gives advice and assists, if necessary, in submitting an objection, complaint or notification of patient injury and initiating a compensation claim.
In case of any dissatisfaction with your treatment, we recommend that you first contact your treating physician or the Service Manager of the unit at which you were treated.
The patient has the right to submit an objection to the Chief Physician regarding their health care and medical care or related treatment.
You can submit an objection by using this form.
The objection form is to be submitted to the Quality Contact Person at [email protected]. More detailed information can be found in the objection form.
Data Protection Officer
At Aava, the Data Protection Officer helps with data protection-related questions. These include, for example, questions and inquiries related to the use of personal data. You can contact the Data Protection Officer if you want to know more about the reasons for collecting your personal data or learn who has processed your data. The Data Protection Officer also provides guidance on various requests. You can reach the Data Protection Officer by email at [email protected].
